A very nice find for round of golf and only 50 minutes north from home. I have to say the 50 minutes travel time was well worth it to a course that offers 36 holes. We played the Lakes as suggested by the friendly gent in the pro shop. It's shorter than the other course and offers better visuals. Yes it may be short, but it's a very good test of a golfers ability. I think I only used the driver 3 or 4 times so you can leave your ego at the range and get good with your long irons on the Lakes. I read that the teeboxes were bare. Not today when I played, all nicely grassed, greens were some of the best I've played in the UK and the fairways were immaculate. I can't say enough about the courses playability. This place is definitely worth a visit and for the price it's 5 stars. All the staff we happened to converse (as well as other golfers) with were very friendly. We are definitely going back to play the other course a d from what I can see I think it'll be just as fun. Longhirst GC, if it was my side of the Tyne I'd jump on as a member without hesitation.

Amazing course. And very cheap for a membership. Will be joining next year when my current club expires.

Great course however plenty of water hazards to catch you out. Ensure you have plenty of golf balls in your bag for this one!

Much too busy and 8 min tee times. Slow play. 4 ball in front did not let a 2 ball through. 4 ball behind, hitting balls at us!!
Will not be back

Just back in Scotland after a weekend away with just under 20 guys and played Dawson yesterday 24th and The lakes today. Excellent venue and highly recommend. We have already booked next year again and looking forward to it already.
Driving range and practice area was very good and staff are super friendly. Sad there was no pro shop as I always look to buy clothing from course shops as a reminder.
Both courses had a variety of holes and for me Lakes was the better of the 2 to play... Great value for money in my opinion.

This could be such a good club with a bit of care and investment. Practice facilities are great and clubhouse is very nice as are the staff. Lakes course is tough and sometimes penalised good tee shots (8th is impossible). The layout is great though, not long but needs a lot of thought and accuracy.
The greens have been impacted by the hot summer and could be better, the tee boxes however are in a really bad way and need urgent care.
Overall for £18 this is a good price. Would pay more if tees and greens were better.

Played the Dawson course,£25.00 a round. Nice wide fairways, a few bare lies, hopefully the grass will thicken in the coming months. Greens are very good. Course is long, par 73. Overall we had a very good day even though we lost quite a few balls. Will definitely return soon.
